As of today, Monday, September 9, South Kent’s Head Athletic Trainer, Lori Rahaim, will be stepping in as our Interim Director of Athletics, succeeding Raphael Chillious. In her new role, Lori will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our athletic programs, working closely with coaches and staff, and ensuring that our students continue to have enriching and successful athletic experiences.
Lori has spent her 35-year career supporting student-athletes of all levels and fostering a positive environment for the athletic programs she was involved in. She comes to us with extensive experience in athletics administration, having previously served as Director of Clubhouse Operations and Head Athletic Trainer in her last position with the New York Boulders Professional Baseball Team, where she served for fourteen seasons. She spent the early part of her career teaching, coaching, and training at two boarding schools in Maryland (West Nottingham Academy and Oldsfields School). During her time there, she was also a member of school leadership, acting as Dean of Students at both institutions. She went on to work for twenty-three years at St. Thomas Aquinas College in New York, working as the Manager of Sports Medicine, NCAA Athletics Healthcare Administrator, and Head Athletic Trainer. From there, she spent two seasons caring for the Lady Blues professional women’s soccer team in Newburgh, New York.
As a returning South Kent School employee, Lori’s deep commitment to our School, Mission, and students is unparalleled. We are confident she will bring a fresh perspective and dedicated leadership to our athletics department during this transitional period.

South Kent Philosophy

Playing hard and playing together is at the heart of South Kent School’s athletic program. Our coaches emphasize integrity, intelligence, and intensity in team play. We believe in building strong, unified teams—win or lose.

Our goal is to use athletics as a tool to prepare young men for the challenges they will face throughout their lives. Whether a student-athlete is competing at the collegiate level or exploring a new sport for the first time, there is a place for him in South Kent athletics.

Every aspect of our program is designed to ensure that students receive high-quality instruction and access to state-of-the-art facilities. Practices, one-on-one coaching, and strength training are all tailored to foster excellence—both on game day and in life.

South Kent athletes are challenged daily and supported in their drive to improve. Our mission is to nurture the entire student body and to develop student-athletes of excellence.

NURTURING EXCELLENCE

A South Kent player respects the game, his teammates, opponents and himself. A thirst for learning about the value of sports and the importance of enjoying every aspect of the experience is crucial to each player’s development. South Kent thrives on a challenge. Each boy learns to value the inherent lesson in adversity, while seeking solutions to problems. Athletes must display composure during challenging times in order to succeed, and South Kent athletes are no exception. Our programs looks to provide each student-athlete with the value of competition, the importance of consistent effort, and the love of the game.
