Christian Johannesson ’07

From Gothenburg, Sweden, Christian Johannesson left his mark at South Kent. He developed into an All‑State performer and was named to the All‑Star team. Johannesson was also a key member of the 2006 New England Championship team. He went on to play for Greensboro College through 2011 and later signed a professional contract with FC Hisingsbacka in Sweden.

Michael Garzi ’09

Michael Garzi was born and raised in nearby New Milford, CT. He was part of the 2008 New England Championship team at South Kent, anchoring the midfield as team captain for three of his four seasons. From 2007–08, Garzi collected accolades including All‑Western New England and All‑State, and was twice named to the All‑Star team.

At Colgate (2009–2012), he played every game as a junior and scored the Patriot League Championship game‑winner to send Colgate to the NCAA Tournament. He earned All‑Patriot League Second Team honors in 2012.

Professionally, Garzi signed with the Rochester Rhinos (USL), scoring 4 goals in 100 games (2014–2017) and won the team’s Community Service Award in 2015 following the Rhinos’ National Championship.

 

Reggie Thompson‑Lambe ’10

Born in Hamilton, Bermuda, Thompson‑Lambe made his first appearance for the Bermudian National Team at age 16 against St. Kitts and Nevis, scoring four goals in a 2008 match versus Saint Martin. He joined South Kent with confidence and contributed to the 2009 New England Championship team.

He began his professional career with Ipswich Town (2009–2011), then Bristol Rovers, before signing with Toronto FC in 2011 where he made 54 appearances and scored two goals (including a notable one versus Chicago Fire in 2012). He later featured for clubs including Nyköpings (Sweden), Mansfield Town, Carlisle United, and AFC Sudbury through 2023.

Fabio Pereira ’10

Raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Pereira earned a scholarship to South Kent, where he was a two‑time All‑State and All‑Star, helping win back‑to‑back New England Championships in 2008 and 2009.

At the University of Michigan, he started 12 games as a freshman (1G/5A, including an OT winner over #3 Maryland to reach the College Cup). He was team Offensive MVP as a sophomore (led team in G/A), posted 6G/8A as a junior, and was All‑Big Ten First Team in 2013, finishing with 13 goals and 22 assists (second in program history).

He was drafted 77th overall by Seattle Sounders FC (MLS) and later played for Uberlândia in Brazil.

Luca Gimenez ’10

A 2010 graduate, Gimenez was First Team All‑State in 2009 with 16 goals, leading South Kent to a New England Championship. At Wake Forest, he started every game as a freshman, made the All‑ACC Freshman Team, the All‑Tournament Team as a sophomore, and the All‑ACC Second Team as a junior, helping the Deacs to the NCAA Tournament. He later played professionally for the Philadelphia Union (MLS).

Tahj Bell ’10

From Bermuda, Bell was a NEPSAC standout goalkeeper. He debuted professionally with Hitchin Town in August 2013 and made 47 appearances before departing in 2015. He also earned two caps for the Bermuda National Team, debuting in a World Cup qualifier versus Barbados in November 2011.

Miguel Carneiro ’11

Originally from Brazil and a scholarship athlete at South Kent, Carneiro signed with Southern New Hampshire University. He was NE‑10 Third Team All‑Conference and All‑Rookie as a freshman (8 points), Second Team as a junior, scored the opener in the Division II National Championship (won on penalties), and First Team as a senior (3G/9A). He later played for Elm City Express and now works as a Financial Advisor at Connecticut Wealth Management.

Joshua Bolma ’21

From Accra, Ghana, Bolma attended South Kent after graduating from Rising Stars Academy. At South Kent, the Cardinals posted a 63‑3‑5 record during his four years. In the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, he was selected 4th overall by the New England Revolution and made his MLS debut on July 15, 2023 in a 4–0 win over D.C. United at Gillette Stadium.

Matthew Bell ’22

Brother of Joshua Bell, Matthew graduated in 2022. He was NEPSAC Player of the Year for the 2021–22 NEPSAC Championship team, then starred at Marshall University (First Team All‑Sun Belt, 2022 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year). In fall 2023 he posted 10 goals and 12 assists, earning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year. He was drafted 16th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.
